Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Design For Development Society! Volunteers are our most valuable resource and are critical to the success of DFD and the projects that we run.

As part of our commitment to our volunteers, Design For Development has adopted the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement and is constantly striving to provide our volunteers with the support and recognition that they deserve.

A recent graduate of the University of Denver with a Masters Degree in Library and Information Science, Christy Shannon Smirl provides research services of all types in a public library, and now for organizations like Design for Development through the United Nations Online Volunteers.

Christy is passionate about connecting people with information towards education, personal development, humanitarian aid projects, or simply for the joy of learning. She lives with her husband Lewis, a social worker, in Golden, Colorado.
